Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 6, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Atlas (“Atlas,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the Atlas websites, applications, and related services (the “Services”).

Atlas is a household operating system. We designed it so that your Household Content stays yours. Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1. Our Privacy Principles

Atlas is designed around the following principles:

  • Your household information belongs to you.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not use your household content for advertising.
  • We do not allow advertisers to access your household content.
  • Sensitive personal information and documents are encrypted at the database level and while stored at rest.
  • Atlas employees do not have access to personal or sensitive Household Content.
  • Atlas employees do not have access to ordinary Household Content except for limited household and profile information required to operate and display the Services.
  • We collect and retain only the information reasonably needed to operate, secure, support, and improve the Services.
  • Household information is processed only by authorized systems as necessary to provide features requested or authorized by the user.
  • We do not use private Household Content to train publicly available, shared, or general-purpose artificial-intelligence models.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following categories. We aim to collect only what is reasonably needed to operate, secure, support, and improve the Services.

Account and household administration

This includes information needed to create and administer your account and household, such as name, email address, household name, profile names, profile photographs or avatars, membership, roles and permissions, subscription status, and security preferences.

Household Content

Content you and authorized household members choose to store in Atlas — for example calendar events, tasks, vault documents, password records, inventory items, subscription trackers, pet records, and related files. Much of this content is personal or sensitive and is protected as described in this policy.

Payment information

If you subscribe, payment card details are collected and processed by our payment provider (Stripe). Atlas does not store full card numbers on its servers. We may receive limited billing metadata such as subscription status, plan, and payment history identifiers.

Technical and security information

We collect technical diagnostic and security information such as device and browser type, approximate location derived from network data where applicable, IP address, authentication events, audit logs, and crash or error diagnostics needed to keep the Services secure and reliable.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Provide, operate, display, and improve the Services you request
  • Authenticate users, protect accounts, and prevent abuse or fraud
  • Process subscriptions and send transactional messages (for example verification, security, billing, and service notices)
  • Provide customer support when you contact us
  • Comply with law and enforce our terms

We do not sell personal information. We do not use Household Content for advertising. We do not use private Household Content to train publicly available, shared, or general-purpose artificial-intelligence models.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information or Household Content.

We may share information only in these limited situations:

  • With household members and people you intentionally authorize (including emergency-access contacts when that feature is used as designed)
  • With contracted infrastructure and technology providers that process information solely on Atlas’s behalf (for example hosting, databases, object storage, email delivery, and payment processing), under appropriate safeguards
  • When required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or security of Atlas, our users, or the public
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, or similar corporate transaction, subject to continued protection consistent with this policy

5. Retention and Deletion

We retain account and Household Content for as long as your account remains active and as needed to provide the Services. If a trial or subscription ends, Atlas may place the household in a limited read-only state for a retention period before scheduled deletion, as described in the product.

When information is deleted from active systems, copies may remain temporarily in encrypted backups until those backups are overwritten or expire according to Atlas’s normal backup-retention schedule (see Encrypted Backups below).

6. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export certain personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can manage much of your information directly in the Services. For privacy requests, contact us at the email below.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights available under applicable law.

7. Access to Household Content

Atlas is designed to prevent employees from accessing users’ personal and sensitive Household Content.

Atlas employees do not have access to sensitive information or documents stored by users, including information contained in:

  • The Vault
  • Password Keeper
  • Medical or medication records
  • Financial or subscription records
  • Home inventory documents and attachments
  • Pet medical records
  • Private messages
  • Uploaded documents, photographs, and files
  • Other personal or sensitive Household Content

Atlas employees also do not have access to standard Household Content outside the limited household and profile information required to render, administer, and support the Services.

Limited operational information that may be available to authorized personnel can include:

  • Account name
  • Account email address
  • Household name
  • Profile names
  • Profile photographs or avatars
  • Household membership
  • Account roles and permissions
  • Subscription status
  • Security and audit events
  • Technical diagnostic information

This limited information is used only as necessary to operate, secure, display, administer, or support the Services.

Household Content may be accessed or processed only by:

  • The account owner
  • Household members authorized by the account owner
  • People with whom a user intentionally shares specific information
  • Automated Atlas systems required to perform requested functions
  • Contracted infrastructure or technology providers processing encrypted or otherwise protected information solely on Atlas’s behalf

Customer-support personnel cannot directly open or review personal or sensitive Household Content. When support is requested, users may be asked to provide screenshots, error details, or other information they voluntarily choose to share.

8. Children

Atlas is intended for household use managed by adults. Account owners and household administrators are responsible for profiles and content related to children in their household. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 for the purpose of creating their own Atlas accounts. If you believe we have collected such information inappropriately, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

9. International Users

Atlas is operated from the United States. If you use the Services from another country, your information may be processed in the United States and other locations where we or our service providers operate. By using the Services, you understand that your information may be transferred to jurisdictions with different data-protection laws than your own.

10. Security and Encryption

Atlas uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information and Household Content.

Sensitive personal information and documents are encrypted at the database level and encrypted while stored at rest. Information is also encrypted while transmitted between supported user devices and Atlas systems.

These protections are designed to ensure that stored Household Content cannot be directly read or accessed by Atlas employees through ordinary administrative or support tools.

Atlas security safeguards may include:

  • Database-level encryption for sensitive information
  • Encryption of documents and sensitive data at rest
  • Encryption of information in transit
  • Secure password hashing
  • Passkey support
  • Two-factor authentication
  • Role-based access controls
  • Household-level permissions
  • Audit logging
  • Rate limiting
  • Security monitoring
  • Protected backups
  • Restricted infrastructure access
  • Secure development and deployment practices
  • Separation between account administration data and private Household Content

Atlas employees do not possess routine application-level access to users’ personal or sensitive Household Content.

Authorized infrastructure access, when technically necessary to maintain the underlying systems, does not provide employees with ordinary access to view users’ decrypted Household Content.

No online service can guarantee absolute security. Users are responsible for protecting their passwords, authentication devices, passkeys, recovery information, and access to their email accounts.

Users should immediately notify Atlas if they suspect unauthorized account access.

11. Encrypted Backups

Atlas may maintain encrypted backups for service recovery, security, and business-continuity purposes.

Sensitive personal information, documents, and other protected Household Content remain encrypted while stored in backups.

Backups are not made available through customer-support or ordinary administrative tools and are not used to inspect or review individual Household Content.

Deleted information may remain temporarily within encrypted backups until those backups are overwritten or expire according to Atlas’s normal backup-retention schedule.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and may provide additional notice in the Services or by email when appropriate. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
